Brian Cook
Overview
This sparky, blue eyed, vivacious Australia (born Yorkshire, England, 1932) is passionately committed to his drawing and painting and has been since he could hold a pencil. Greatly influenced by renowned artists Turner and Constable, Brian says "I felt the scales fall from my eyes as soon as I arrived in Australia and saw the wonderful works of Tom Roberts, Arthur Streeton and Frederie McCubbin".Profile
Being a typical boy, and a bit of a larrikin, he skipped school one day. At the tender age of 7 years, in Barnsley, in Yorkshire, he wandered past St Barnabus Church and was intrigued to see students (final year art school students about to sit their practical drawing exams) lined up in the streets with folios. Following them into the church, he was left speechless by the magnificance of their sketches of the interior of this wonderful building. In the development of his art this experience played a major influence. Our Brisbane and Gold Coast are presently featuring Brian's soft impressionistic style landscapes. "Come and be delighted by these wonderful works." Antony Watling
