Bruce Griffiths
Overview
Artist Bruce Griffiths still works by the modem, never paint where you haven't been and never paint what you cannot feel. Located at the base of the Tallebudgera Valley on the Gold Coast, his sea and country landscapes reflect his real life journeys in Australia. A lifetime of fishing and the bush has instilled a love of the outdoors, which is the preferred subject of his paintings. Through his brush, Bruce reveals the natural beauty of Australia. He is always looking to capture the mood and atmosphere of the sea and his beloved country. A watercolour artist in the traditional style and largely self taught since picking up a brush in 2002. "I was fortunate early to see the use of colour in watercolour in the hands of world renowned Australian artists Robert Wade and Robert Lovett. It simply opened my eyes to what was possible".Profile
Many years in the South East Queensland construction scene before taking up a brush, Bruce has seen the growth that will forever change the land but he insists that a simple beauty is still there. You just have to look harder. Bruce has enjoyed and emerged through the workshops of Robert Wade over a number of years. Art royalty is Robert and a challenging and generous mentor,†says Bruce. Brief but challenging journeys with both Robert Lovett and Greg Allen were to follow. After an invigorating period with world acclaimed artist Joseph Zbukvic, he has not looked back and gone on from strength to strength. Bruce admits there is art in the blood. “My father was a wonderful drawer of characters although he never published professionally. All my family is creative; musicians, dressmakers or artists of some kind. I was a late bloomer and now there is never enough time to paintâ€. Bruce has been a local and successful exhibitor through competitions from Hervey Bay North, Murwillumbah South and west to Warwick & Stanthorpe. His past exhibitions have been a great success. Says Bruce, "There is a momentum, a time when all factors fall into place and I am excited about the exposure of the website, but more so my return to Watling Gallery. It has come just at the right time and will help channel the volume of works and the emotion that I can offer the art loving public through my paintings."Recent Artwork By Bruce Griffiths
